Soy Bars Have Come A Long Way Baby! August 23, 2007

Apart from the obvious nutritional value, the taste was surprisingly better than I anticipated. Normally, if I find soy-based nutritional bars tend to have a chalky or tree-bark-like texture and taste. I dare say, the texture reminds me of a healthy-not-too-sweet "Rice Krispy Treat".

We, like so many other families, are always on the go. At first, I thought this would be just another dry snack bar, but at least it was a healthy alternative when there's no time to sit down for a meal. Instead, we all (3) really love these vanilla NuGo bars. Our 12 year old even takes one everyday for a school snack. It's just right!

Don' waste your money! You can buy bars that taste much better at your local grocery store. We bought both the peanut butter, and the chocolate, and ended up throwing the last few away- they just sat and sat in the cupboard- family moved them to the side to get something better.

In the never-ending quest for the delicious and healthy ultimate "power bar", NuGo is a welcome addition to my travel emergency food bag and it works as 'need-protein-now' post-workout snack as well.

I find it quite flavorful and not too dry, it's not overly sugary although sweeter than I expected for a low-glycemic product. It even packs a good amount of protein without you really noticing it (and if you've tried other protein bars or drinks, you know what I mean. Yuck). Overall, I would compare the taste to the Luna bar brand.

Excellent newcomer. Try one; currently amazon.com sells them individually for not much more than a candy bar.
