A new start - Day 14 - Good and Bad

Well, I had my weekly weigh-in post typed up this morning and wrote about my 5 pound loss. I had forgotten to post it and just did that now. After getting it typed up I went for my daily walk. It was probably the worst day so far for the walk. Not because of the walk itself but, because it snowed last night and the roads were a mess. It made for a slip sliding not-so-good time. After getting back from my walk, my wife and I headed out to get some things done. While we were out, we decided to get something to eat and went to, you guessed it, the Chinese Buffet. So, I lasted about two weeks without going and already broke my rule about only going after my monthly visit with the nutritionist.

It wasn’t all bad though. I completely avoided fried foods, with the exception of two onion rings. I also ate about half of what I usually do when we go to the buffet. Probably half of what I ate was broccoli with some chicken and noodles and a few meatballs and a bit of seafood. Overall, not too bad. I also avoided cheesy foods and desert and kept myself to one drink. If I was to estimate, I would figure I had about 1500 - 1800 calories. I will have to go light on dinner and I am thinking I will try and get out for a walk tomorrow to make up for some of the extra calories. Overall, two weeks into my new start, I think things are going pretty well. I have maintained my daily walks and have been doing very well with my food choices and today’s weigh-in showed a pretty good drop of 5 pounds for the past week. Even when faced with all the temptations of the Chinese Buffet, I stayed with the better, lower fat choices. I am looking forward to the next two weeks to see how I do before my next visit to the nutritionist.
