Setting Some Ground Rules

I realized the other day, that while I had a good understanding of the things I need to do in order to lose weight. I had nothing set up outlining those actions that can help to guide me when things get tough like they have been for the past few months. So, here I am setting up that outline. I hate to call them rules. That make it sound like something that is set in stone and anything outside of them will be “cheating”. So, how about we call them guidelines. Meant to steer me in the right direction, yet not carved into stone tables.

  1. Keep calories at 2000 per day
  2. Keep a daily food diary
  3. Try and avoid cheese & milk
  4. Try and avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup
  5. Try and avoid sugar substitutes – If sugar is needed, try to use honey
  6. Cut back on meal portions
  7. Add at least 10 minutes of exercise to daily routine
  8. Don’t eat after 8PM
  9. If eating after 8PM, make it something light
  10. Try to structure meals like this:
    Breakfast
Fruit (1 or 2 bananas, melon, apple, orange, etc… Up to 200 – 300 calories worth)
Two cups of tea with a tablespoon of honey
    Lunch
A protein shake, a sandwich, a bowl of soup, a big salad, etc… Up to 600 calories
    Snack
Something small, up to 150 calories or something warm like another double cup of tea with honey.
    Dinner
Eat a normal dinner (chicken, beef, fish, etc.. with veggies and a starch) up to around 1200 – 1300 calories. Keeping portion sizes in check
