A Walk in The Park
We took the kids out to the local amusement park yesterday for opening weekend. It is a great place to go for an afternoon since admission is free (they charge you per ride). The kids got their hand stamped and rode all afternoon for $20 (hand stamps were buy one get one free since it was opening weekend) and we bought a $10 book of tickets for the rides that didn’t get covered by the hand stamp. It gave the wife and I a good opportunity to get out of the house and walk. So, that is just what we did. We spent about 6 hours at the park and half of that was spent walking around. I have to say it felt pretty good. I noticed I was able to get around a lot easier than last year. After we got home I was looking at the pictures we took and noticed that I seem to be smaller as well. Kind of gave me a good feeling seeing and feeling some of the results.
One thing that was tough was smelling all the good food as we moved around the park. So many good things to eat. Cheese burgers, hot dogs, barbecue, french fries, Italian, Mexican, chines, pizza, potato pancakes, funnel cakes, ice cream, milk shakes, etc.. Oh I can still smell the food. It was hard at times. But, I definitely feel better not having pigged out. Although I did eat a bit too much pizza after getting home. I need to work on that.
All in all it was a great day. Tons of walking for all of us, the basset hound included, good food and lots of fun. All for about $100. The best part is that the park is only about 10 minutes away. So, we will be spending a lot of time there over the summer.
