Today marks my third weigh-in for 2008 and two weeks from the beginning of my New Start. I was unsure what today would bring. I had done well almost all week, with the exception of last Sunday. I stuck to my plan and ate almost only fruit for breakfast. One day I had two English Muffins. My lunches were light. Most days keeping under 400 calories. While my dinners were probably bigger than they should have been, they were well balanced and I did try to cut back some on portion size. I still need to work on portion size and I still need to get back into the food logs. I am getting there slowly, tracking on some days. Now I just need to be consistent and do it every day. I stuck with my daily walks to get in 15 – 20 minutes of exercise with the exception of this past weekend.

Well, my second weigh in for the year has arrived and I am 7 days in to my new start. I have been making some better food choices starting with my breakfast. I have been trying to limit my breakfast to only fruit again. I have been going light on my lunches as well. I am still working on my portion control at dinner time. But, it is getting better. One thing I need to start doing again is tracking my food. I slacked a great deal with that and it does make a big difference not knowing exactly how many calories I consume on a daily basis.

Seems to be the theme with me lately as far as my weight loss efforts go. Drop a few pounds. Gain a few pounds back. In the end, I am staying around the same weight. But, it is frustrating to go down one week and back up the next. I have only myself to blame. But some weeks it is just so damn hard to lose weight. You get hungry, you eat. You get really hungry, you eat ALOT! Instead of losing weight, you gain weight back and offset your previous week or two of weight loss. I haven’t even come close to going back to where I started and never plan on losing control that much. But, having the ups and downs in weight loss to weight gain from week to week starts to suck after a few weeks of it. My last weigh in I posted was from October 12. I was at 361.8 pounds on that day. True to form, I had some ups and downs since then. The following week I weighed in at 366.2 pounds on October 19 and then followed that up with an almost 8 pound loss weighing in at 358.6 on October 26. Enter the week of Halloween and see how quickly things turn around. The week between Oct. 26 and November 2 I gained it all back weighing in at 369.6 last Friday. Candy sucks and so does the lack of will power i showed during that week! I spent the past week trying to get myself focused again and I maintained the weight, weighing in today at the same thing. It’s hard to just stop, once you start down that road into chocolaty decadence! One piece leads to another and another and another.. and before you know it.. you end up a Fat Bastard!

This week I weighed in at a pound more than last week, 361.8. It wasn’t a very good week overall. At least not nearly as good as the week before. Between going out to eat twice during the week and also being my wife’s birthday on Monday (had to have at least one piece of ice cream cake), I just didn’t do as well. I also haven’t been feeling my best for a few days. I feel like I have a cold coming on. Last week at this time the temperature was in the mid to high 80′s and now it is in the low to mid 50′s. A big difference and tough to adjust to. The temperature change is probably the reason I weighed in at a pound more than last week too. Last Friday I was wearing shorts and a lighter shirt and today I am wearing long pants and a heavier shirt and socks. But, whatever the reason. I need to work a little harder this week and I should see a better result next Friday. I am planning on taking my son hiking tomorrow to check out some of the sights of fall from the top of the mountain we went camping on back in August which means I will see a bit more exercise this coming week than last and hopefully a bit better weight loss.

Well, it has been awhile since I posted my last weigh-in. It has also been awhile since I have been this motivated. I spent the week eating healthy and eating less. I paid close attention to portion size and also made better food choices for my daily meals. Breakfast for the most part was fruit and maybe a small bowl of cereal on some days. Lunch was quick and light like my Veggie Wrap. Dinner was big enough to fill me up, but not so big that I felt like I overate. I cut out snacks except for fruit and I stayed completely away from any alcohol. I also made it a point not to eat out all week and the only liquid I drank aside from the 1% milk in the cereal I had was water. Another thing I did was not to eat past 8PM. Not even snacks this week.

Well I have not been feeling all too well for the past week or so and I have also not been eating too well. I have been bloated and sore and cranky. If I were a woman, I would think that it was my time of the month. I was a bit surprised and quite happy when I stepped on the scale this week and discovered that I have sunk to a new low, weight that is. My current weight as of today is 396 pounds which puts me at a total loss so far of around 70 pounds or 15% of my starting weight. It is also the lowest weight I have been at in more than 3 years. So, now that I have surpassed my goal of 400 pounds my next goal is 365 lbs. which will be 100 pounds from my starting weight. I had initially set a goal of being there by June of this year, but Now I am thinking I might be able to reach it sooner. We will see.

Well, the holidays have ended. The mass consumption of food and alcohol is over and I am surprisingly 4 pounds lighter as of today and I have met my goal of 400 pounds. A few days late. But, considering the food I consumed during the past two weeks, not to mention the amount of alcohol. I am both surprised and happy to finally be at 400 pounds and ready to burn off the next 200. I am still expecting to wake up one day with 20 pounds that just magically appeared. But, I guess the fact that I paid a lot more attention to what I was eating this time around and stayed away from the junk that usually goes with the holiday season, I managed to pull through. We had no pie, fudge or cookies in the house, so It was a lot easier not to eat. In fact we had to give Santa a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because at 10PM Christmas Eve, we realized we had no cookies to set out. He was happy for the change!

Christmas is behind us and I managed to get through it with just a few days of going over my daily calorie goal. Christmas dinner did not bring us near as many leftovers as Thanksgiving and the dinner in general was a lot lighter than at Thanksgiving. Now I just need to get through New Years Eve and I can be on my merry way without any pig-out holidays in the near future. Today’s weigh-in puts me at 404 pounds. So, not a big loss. But, as far as I am concerned any loss during the holiday’s is a good one! It also doesn’t look like I will be hitting my goal of 400 pounds by the end of the year. But, I came damn close. So, for that I am happy. I will just have to push harder next week.

So the Christmas holiday is upon us and I am ohhh so close to my goal of hitting 400 lbs. by then end of the year. After struggling for a bit under the weight of my big fat ass, the scale told me that I weigh in at 405 pounds this week. With 1 week left in the year and a Christmas feast at the beginning of it I am wondering how I will fare. I will certainly have to keep myself in check but I am sure that the cheese steak I packed away earlier wasn’t the best choice in food for the day. I have just been sticking with some healthy snacks for the remainder of the day to stay near my calorie limit. One thing I have found though is that the weeks that I try not to eat I don’t do as well as I was hoping to do. It is only the weeks that I meet or come close to my limit without going over by much that I can do well and loose some weight.

So there are two weeks left in the year and I am down to 410 Pounds. My food choices are constantly improving and I feel like I am eating better than I ever have in my life. I also find myself having a lot more energy to get through the day. It is pretty cool. I am getting closer to my goal of hitting 400 by the end of the year and should be able to do it if I push hard. We’ll see. It has definitely been easier to track my food intake with the new website I signed up for at the end of November. It is also much easier to review the food log and see the breakdown of fat, carbs and protein. I just wish that they had more information on things like nutrients and such. One thing I have learned is that carrots make a great snack and basset hounds love them too!
