Been Awhile

It has been awhile since I last posted. I completely fell off the wagon. At least to the point where I stopped doing anything to try and lose weight. I think I needed the break. I can only guess that It was due to the gloom of winter. In any case I seem to have regained some of my motivation and have started to keep my food log once again. I was surprised to see that my calories were so high the first couple of days. I thought I had things in check and was still maintaining a pretty good calorie count. But I was eating double the calories and sometimes more each day. I had noticed that I was eating more. But, figured I was eating better. While I has making some better choices, I was also slipping back towards a lot of the wrong choices. Between Christmas and easter I started eating a lot more junk again. Easter was torture. The 25 pound ham that lasted for a week, the resulting 5 gallons of bean soup, the 4 dozen hard boiled eggs we dyed with the kids that were turned into deviled eggs and pickled eggs and the 10 pounds of easter candy that we swore we wouldn’t buy, yet managed to bring it home anyway.

Another torture has been eating out. A new Chinese buffet opened up about 5 minutes away, in early March. I LOVE Chinese buffets and we were there for lunch about 6 times in the first 3 weeks.

The amazing thing is that through it all, I still managed to maintain my weight without any huge gains. Each month I visit the nutritionist, I still seem to be weighing in at less than the month before. Although, the weeks in between I seem to go up and down a good bit. I got a big push this past week though, when I weighed myself and I was almost back at 390. I wasn’t too happy with that and decided it was time to get back on track. I have been doing pretty well the past few days and have managed to get my calories in check and I am looking forward to trying out some new ideas. The last few months have given me a lot of time to reflect on the first months of my weight loss journey and see what I was doing right and what could use some improvement. One thing I am working towards is setting some ground rules for myself. Now that I know what has worked for me, the plan is to try and re-structure my lifestyle around those actions. Another goal I have set is to try and include at least 10 minutes of exercise into my daily routine. Well, that is about it for the update this time around. I know I have said int he past that I plan to post more and then disappear for a few months. But, I am planning on being more active in my posting. I need to update my food diary and have some things I want to add. So, hopefully I will be able to squeeze some time in here and there to post.
