8 calories per pound – part 2
I had my previous calorie goal set to 1800 calories per day. This was based on the rule of 8 calories per pound to maintain your weight. That was to reach my overall target weight of 225 pounds. Because of the fact that I have been so hungry and the fact that I was getting discouraged more often than not, I decided to make some adjustments and instead of setting my calorie target for my goal weight, I am setting it lower in stages. My new calorie target is at 2800 calories per day, which will put me at my current short term goal weight of 350 pounds.
With that target and a fair amount of exercise throughout the week, I am hoping to see my short term goal within a few weeks and then I will adjust my calorie target in decrements of 200 calories or 25 pounds. When I reach the next short term goal of 25 pounds, I will lower my daily calorie target again, and repeat until I have reached my goal weight. Whether this is the right way to do it or not, I’m not sure. It should be an interesting experiment though. I expect it will be easier to cut out those 200 calories in the beginning than it will when I get closer to my overall target weight. In the end, I think it is about finding what works best for me. So far I have taken a lot of different approaches and picked out the better parts of each. That has helped me to lose 100 pounds to this point. When I am finished I hope to have many other parts to make 1 solid overall approach that will be a way of life rather than a diet.
