We took the kids out to the local amusement park yesterday for opening weekend. It is a great place to go for an afternoon since admission is free (they charge you per ride). The kids got their hand stamped and rode all afternoon for $20 (hand stamps were buy one get one free since it was opening weekend) and we bought a $10 book of tickets for the rides that didn’t get covered by the hand stamp. It gave the wife and I a good opportunity to get out of the house and walk. So, that is just what we did. We spent about 6 hours at the park and half of that was spent walking around. I have to say it felt pretty good. I noticed I was able to get around a lot easier than last year. After we got home I was looking at the pictures we took and noticed that I seem to be smaller as well. Kind of gave me a good feeling seeing and feeling some of the results.

It has definitely been an extended winter. With a snowstorm dropping a foot of snow on us in mid April, I wasn’t sure we were ever going to see spring. We have been having some strange weather the last few years. With the warm days sticking around until December last year and the snow sticking around until April this year with warm days in between. Strange! I am happy to see the green of spring finally popping up all around. I have been looking forward to the summer trips to the local state parks and taking the dog out for walks at the watershed that is down the road. Not to mention all the summer fun with the kids at the local Amusement Park. Plus, I think I am going to take my son camping for the first time this year. Maybe to the beach, since he has been asking about going to the beach for about 3 years now. We’ll see how that goes, it should be a lot of fun!

It has been awhile since I last posted. I completely fell off the wagon. At least to the point where I stopped doing anything to try and lose weight. I think I needed the break. I can only guess that It was due to the gloom of winter. In any case I seem to have regained some of my motivation and have started to keep my food log once again. I was surprised to see that my calories were so high the first couple of days. I thought I had things in check and was still maintaining a pretty good calorie count. But I was eating double the calories and sometimes more each day. I had noticed that I was eating more. But, figured I was eating better. While I has making some better choices, I was also slipping back towards a lot of the wrong choices. Between Christmas and easter I started eating a lot more junk again. Easter was torture. The 25 pound ham that lasted for a week, the resulting 5 gallons of bean soup, the 4 dozen hard boiled eggs we dyed with the kids that were turned into deviled eggs and pickled eggs and the 10 pounds of easter candy that we swore we wouldn’t buy, yet managed to bring it home anyway.
Another torture has been eating out. A new Chinese buffet opened up about 5 minutes away, in early March. I LOVE Chinese buffets and we were there for lunch about 6 times in the first 3 weeks.
